Always always always in Clinton Washington
Hi my name is Hannah, and I am your new AmeriCorps VISTA Summer Associate at the Good Cheer Food Bank. I am a part of the gleaning crew, an enthusiastic new community outreach team member, and another friendly face encouraging you to volunteer.Six years ago I traded in Clinton WA 98236 for Clinton Washington 11205. That first zip code may be familiar to most of you readers, belonging to Clinton WA of South Whidbey. It also belonged to me for 18 years. The second zip code transports you to Clinton Hill, a neighborhood in Brooklyn, NY. The subway stop in Clinton Hill was built below the intersection of Clinton St. and Washington St. earning the subway stop name and neighborhood slang: Clinton Washington. At my Clinton Washington away from Clinton WA I attended Pratt Institute and received my M.S. and B.F.A. studying how children engage with curiosity and creativity through their education. In the time since graduation I took a job, quit my job, and joined the Peace Corps. As the pieces of my timeline fell into place, I realized that I would have a window of time to return home to 98236, and also, that the window was significant enough for me to chase a new adventure...My passions and practice rest on the pillars of learning, creativity and social justice. I have a deep respect for the role that Good Cheer plays in our community and I look forward to the chance to serve my home, as I prepare to serve abroad. So come in to Good Cheer to chat, shop, eat, learn and create together as we work to become the catalysts of change in our zip code and yours.
