Martin Luther King Day of Service launches the 2013 season!
Martin Luther King Day can be a bit dicey with the weather, but we were lucky this year, and though cold, the rains stayed away. Americorp volunteers from the South Whidbey Commons turned over cover crops and mulched the flipped beds.
The cover crop was turned over in the hoophouse, and we harvested lettuce planted last fall for our lunch.
Over 20 pounds of overwintering chard was harvested and brought into the Food Bank.
Last but not least, all our tools were sharpened for the new season!A great kickoff to our new gardening season!
