It's harvest time, big time!

From tomatoes in the hoophouse, to the carrots in the field, Lots of rows of beans, and big, beautiful leeks, the harvest is coming in! You name it, beets, beans, carrots, tomatoes, basil, zucchini, cucumbers, lettuce, arugula, kale, collards, chard, leeks... it's harvest time, big time!  We now have such an abundant harvest of kale and chard that it's coming out of our ears! We'll be putting up the harvest for winter, blanching and freezing, on Wednesday afternoon, August 22nd, from 1 - 4 pm, at the Food Bank kitchen. Come lend us a hand and extend our harvest into the winter months, and join us at the picnic lunch at noon. (Note! time changed from originally scheduled Tuesday morning.)  We're also flipping beds and planting bok choi, gailon (chinese kale), arugual, spinach and lettuce for the fall. Did you know that you can make delicious pesto from carrot tops! We've been enjoying Allie's pesto, and many other wonderful offerings from the garden at the Wednesday work party picnic lunch at noon. Come join us!
