Billings Middle School in the garden!

A big thank you to the Billings Middle School 8th grade class who came to help in the Good Cheer garden! We began the visit by gathering together for lunch and got to work shortly after a delicious soup from the food bank. And wow, did we get a lot done!   We had a great time preparing the beds and learning about soil, weeds, and tools...    Plenty of mulch was gathered from the adjacent field and then spread around the plants to help them retain warmth and moisture and help suppress weeds! With the garden as our very own outdoor classroom and science lab, we can learn so much about the plants that feed us and the environment they live in. A great day for the garden and everyone in it! A big thank you to the Billings Middle School class students Alex, Eli, Kelly, Owen, Max, Pearl, Rebecca, Rowan and Truman, and their teacher Rebecca Timson.-post written by Mech Kneidinger, Community Gardening Leadership apprentice
