The transformation begins!

Hooray! The new garden area began its transformation this week, with Jim Lux munching the blackberries, and grading along the south edge.munching-blackberriesOver the next few weeks we’re going to be hauling in composted manure.starting-to-amend-the-fieldHere’s the first manure spread on the field. It needs a bit of weeding, and raking. Let us know if you have a large truck for hauling, or have aged manure to share. Several people have volunteered their trucks and tractors, but more help is needed. There’s now a quarter acre of future garden ready to be amended!Once this is done, it will all be tilled, and then we’ll be ready to create the raised beds.We have just been donated an 8 x 10 ft. metal shed for tool storage, and also the materials for the shed platform. We need help building the platform and erecting the shed. Please call 221-6046, or reply email, if you can lend a hand with these projects. Small work parties will be organized throughout the month. After this initial effort, we'll set up regular work party times. Thanks again, and look forward to seeing you in the garden!Cary PetersonGood Cheer Garden Coordinator360-221-6046garden@goodcheer.orgGood Cheer Food Bank2812 Grimm Rd.Langley, WA 98260
